Volunteer

Make the adventure. Join the journey of Scouting.

Do you have the energy, enthusiasm and ability to inspire young people and join with them on the adventure that is Scouting? Whether you want to help on a regular or occasional basis, or have skills and experience that can help add to that adventure, there are opportunities for you!

If you’d like to work directly with young people on a regular basis, you can take on a sectional role as either a leader or an assistant for a section, from Beavers (6-8), Cubs (8-10), Scouts (10-14), Explorers (14-18) up to Network (18-25). Alternatively, you can help out on a more occasional basis, supporting a group or groups when they need additional pairs of willing hands, or if you have experience in certain activities, from cooking or camping up to kayaking or climbing, helping out as an instructor.

You don’t need any specific skills or qualifications to help at Scouts, and you can learn and gain experience and knowlegde as you volunteer. Scouting is about flexible volunteering, and if you are willing to lend us a helping hand, we can help you find the best role for you!

Here are just some of the roles at the front of the adventure that you can get involved in and support the movement:

Section Leader
Assistant Section Leader
Section Assistant
Occasional Helper
Instructor

Help make it happen. Everyone needs a helping hand at some point.

Are you organised, efficient and keen to get involved in Scouting and want to lend a hand behind the scenes? There are plenty of opportunities to volunteer: helping with the day-to-day running of Scouting, the administration behind the programmes and helping out with small but essential tasks around the Scouting district.

Whether you’re good with money and finances, paperwork and administration, media and communications, health and safety or taking on an Executive role, there is an opportunity for you.
