Training
I’m delighted to be joining the District Team as your Local Training Manager. My remit is to help make training convenient and useful to all the adults helping in Southampton City district, so don’t hesitate to get in touch with me (training@southamptoncityscouts.co.uk) about your training needs – leadership training, first aid, minibus driving, safeguarding, nights away, etc.
Many training courses are run by Hampshire County Scouts, and if you are particularly keen to make big strides with your leader training in 2012 then I’d recommend the two weekend training events at Fernycrofts (31 Mar-1 Apr for modules 5, 7, 8, 9, 12 & 16 and 6-7 Oct for modules 11, 13, 14, 15, 17 & 18) that will cover almost all of the woodbadge training modules between them and which are very positive and fun experiences in themselves. You can book online at: http://www.scouts-hants.org.uk/build_area/AdultTrainingform.php but if a weekend away is not convenient for you then there are other ways to complete your training including online courses, evening classes, or “on the job”. I’ll be glad to assign you a Training Adviser to guide you through your leadership training.
It is good to be able to report that four more people have offered to become Training Advisers. If you are an experienced leader then how about offering to become a TA too and to help new leaders through their training? We need more!
Watch out for further training updates in the members section of the new District Web Site.
