Remembrance Sunday Parade

Posted by Tony on December 1, 2011

On Sunday the 13th of November, the 29th Immaculata Scout Group attended our local Church for Remembrance Sunday. We were joined by Colin (DC) as well as parents of the 24 Young People who attended, along with leaders from all three sections. We marched from our Scout Hut with all Colours to the Church.

Once inside we paraded down the aisle to the front of the church, where our flags were put on the altar, we then sat in the front seats which had been reserved for us.

Fr Antony was very happy to see us all in full smart uniform playing an active role in the local community.

During the service, two of our Scouts read readings on behalf of the Group, with behavior being good throughout. All members were quite for the two minute silence.

The Beavers during the service, took part in making Poppy crosses (see photo below) as well as taking part in the feedback to the rest of us about what they had been up to.

Once the service had finish, we collected our flags and marched out of the church. We then stood outside (photo below), where Russ (29th GSL) presented Colin with the Scout Church Badge for attending.

Fr Antony then thanked us for our involvement, which helped him with the readings and the group with badge work requirements.

The morning was a success as it helped to advertise Scouting in the local Community, which could assist with recruitment.

All in all a productive morning for the 29th and Scouting in general.

Russell, 29th Group Scout Leader.
