What We Do
What We Do
Southampton City Scout District serves the communities of the west and central areas of Southampton and is a key part of Hampshire Scouting, the largest Scouting county in the UK. We have a thriving Scout district in Southampton, with 11 groups along with active Explorer, Network and Active Support units, catering to every age.
In Southampton City, we are strong believers in the adventure of Scouting and the opportunities that we can offer. In addition to our groups, we have qualified instructors offering activities such as camping, bushcraft, archery, shooting, canoeing, kayaking, mountaineering, hiking and climbing. Our Scouts have the opportunity to embark on international expeditions and jamborees and work towards their Duke of Edinburgh and Queen Scout Awards.
We are fortunate to be close to the New Forest, enabling us to provide the out in Scouting, getting everyone out and about and enjoying the outside environment and the adventure that only Scouting can offer. In the heart of the New Forest we have our district activity centre, Wilverley Campsite.
All of the groups in our district are working to grow in numbers and meet the huge demand for Scouting in Southampton. We are fortunate to have a band of experienced, talented and qualified adult leaders, but our district has an aim to provide more Scouting to everyone. Scouting in Southampton does not only offer young people the opportunity to enjoy the adventure of scouting, but offers the parents, the guardians, the friends and other volunteers the chance to volunteer and make a real difference to the lives of the children in the city and society as a whole.
